Vincent Kompany’s Clarets head Sheffield United on goal difference as Jay Rodriguez (2), Brazilian ace Vitinho and Belgium Under 21 international Anass Zaroury were on the scoresheet at Turf Moor.
Here are the player ratings following Burnley’s best performance of the season.
5. Ian Maatsen 9
Everything about the Chelsea full back screams "Premier League". His delivery for Vitinho's opening goal was simply exquisite, and of top flight quality, and he continued to be a thord in the side of Joel Latibeaudiere and Nathan Wood, alongside Anass Zaroury. The 20-year-old, a frightening prospect, was also involved in Burnley's second and fourth goals. Another defensively sound display to boot as well. Photo: CameraSport - Rich Linley
6. Josh Cullen 8.5
Magnificent in the middle of the park and arguably his best performance in a Burnley shirt to date. The Republic of Ireland international is finally getting the recognition that his contribution warrants. Makes everything tick for the Clarets, picks up pockets of spaces to get on the ball and hurt the opposition in transition, and picked out a splendid pass for Jay Rodriguez to pick up a second assist in as many games. Victim of a late stamp by Joel Piroe, who was subsequently red-carded. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth
7. Jack Cork 8
When the ex-Chelsea midfielder plays, Burnley look more purposeful, organised and assured. Time and time again the one-time England cap telegraphs and intercepts passes out from the back to turn over possession in advanced positions. Orchestrates play when collecting the ball in deep-lying areas, travels smoothly in possession and distributes the ball expertly. Leading by example. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth
8. Josh Brownhill 8
The midfielder is now sitting pretty on eight goal contributions — just one short of equalling his career record — after teeing up Anass Zaroury's first goal for the club. His runs off the ball manufacture space to run into for his team-mates and he was close to getting on the scoresheet himself with a crisp strike that was flicked over the crossbar by Steven Benda.
