Person taken to hospital after firefighers rush to Colne kitchen blaze

A person suffering smoke inhalation was taken to hospital following a kitchen fire in the early hours of the morning.

Three fire engines from Nelson and Colne attended the incident at a house in Keighley Road, shortly before 1am today.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "The fire involved a cooker. Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a positive pressure ventilation unit to extinguish the fire.

"One casualty was conveyed to hospital suffering from suspected smoke inhalation. Crews were at the scene for one hour."
