Whilst acknowledging the anniversary of a solemn occasion, The Manor House Nursing Home in Chatburn nonetheless had a fun packed time celebrating VE Day.

An array of memorabilia, Union Jack bunting and flags trimmed the lounges.

A spokesman said: "The residents and team played games such as pin the cigar on Churchill’s face whilst blind folded. A 'Victory in Europe' themed quiz was held and plenty of reminiscing was enjoyed whilst 1940’s style music played. This was followed by a traditional cream tea. The day was rounded off with a sing-a-long of wartime favourites such as 'We’ll Meet Again' and 'The White Cliffs of Dover'. Everyone agreed it had been an enjoyable day."
