New car park created at Burnley park
As part of the work to restore and improve Thompson Park, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Burnley Council, the council has created a new public car park, within the park on the site of the former open-air school, which is expected to open soon.
Previously, there has been no public parking within Thompson Park and no provision for disabled parking. The new car park will provide spaces for 62 cars of which four will be mobility spaces (plus additional spaces for the miniature railway volunteers).

Introducing parking charges helps us to effectively manage the car park and provides income that contributes towards the cost of maintaining the park for the benefit of all visitors."
