Friends of motorcycle enthusiast Brian “Stodge” Crabtree are staging their annual fund-raising motorcycle “ride out” in aid of two local charities on Saturday.

The ride has attracted tens of dozens of riders and this year sports, tourers, ladies and vintage bike classes are welcome once again.

This is the fifth time the event has been held in memory of popular Clitheroe biking enthusiast Brian, who died suddenly in July 2010 aged just 55 years old.

Husband to Susan and father to Caroline and Claire, Brian grew up and lived in Clitheroe all of his life.

Alongside his enthusiasm for motorbikes Brian was a fan of Preston North End Football Club as well as a great believer in supporting the work of the air ambulances.

Organisers of the event are expecting around 40 riders to take part.

They are asked to meet at 9-30 am on Saturday at Deanfield MOT Test Centre/West Coast 4x4 Ltd at 1 Deanfield Drive, Link 59 Business Park, Clitheroe, BB7 1QJ.

There will be five to six run leaders at the ride out and the routes will vary mostly taking in roads through the Yorkshire Dales although there will be some in the South Lakes.

The ride will be followed by a pie and peas supper at the Waggon and Horses pub, Pimlico Road, Clitheroe, from 7 pm onwards.

Donations of £10 per rider are being requested, with all the money raised to be shared between the North West Air Ambulance and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The four pevious events have so far raised in the region of £8,000.
