Keep the faith ... the Soul Train is steaming into town with a special excursion bound for Clitheroe on Saturday night.
Last year the nine-piece went in to the engine shed for a major re-fit and emerged with a new singer, Darrell Smith and three new recruits.
“Darrell is a very charismatic singer and he has given the Soul Train a fresh dynamic,” said bassist Gary Ward who will headline a special soul evening with Soul Train at the Grand, Clitheroe.
“Darrell comes from a Northern Soul family background and our audience have really taken to him because he engages them in such a great way.
“He has given us that snap, crackle and bop back and we are sounding tighter than ever. “
The nine-piece have built up a cult following in the county, jumping over the track from jazz and even brass bands to bring back soul classics from the 60s and 70s with an amazing freshness.
Performing some of the very best of the Northern Soul anthems from Wigan Casino, The Twisted Wheel and Blackpool Mecca, The Soul Train capture a classic era of soul, featuring the blistering sound of the Union Pacific Horns, and hits from the Temptations, Dobie Gray, Wilson Pickett and Booker T and the M.G.’s.
Other new arrivals joining the Soul Train include drummer Gary Owen and guitarist Leigh McGarvie who complete a new look rhythm section.
“We love playing the Grand, it is our favourite venue and our gigs there always seem to summon up a bit of magic,” added Gary Ward.
