Judge David Walliams said he was “blown away” by Britain’s Got Talent hopeful Langho teenager Ella Shaw after her performance on tonight’s live semi-final show.
In the third live semi-final of the series, talented singer Ella (18), who came under the national spotlight after wowing BGT judges with her own original song, “Summertime”, tonight did her own contemporary cover of Rozalla’s “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good).
Receiving a standing ovation and given four “yes” votes by BGT judges David Walliams, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell after her original audition, Ella, who previously took part in the Ribble Valley’s talent contest “GRAB” event, admitted being sick with nerves prior to tonight’s live semi-final performance.
Prior to her song, a clip was shown of Ella at home in Langho with her parents and two sisters. Her father said this was the “biggest moment” of Ella’s life, while her mother said they were all going to “explode with pride”.
After her performance Simon Cowell said Ella, despite being blighted by nerves, has a “real star quality”, while David Walliams described her performance as “cool and edgy”. Alesha Dixon, meanwhile, said that Ella has a “great stage presence”.
A former pupil of St Mary’s RC Primary School at Langho and St Augustine’s RC High School at Billington, Ella is competing for a coveted spot at the Royal Variety Show.
Acts Dylan Byrd, Ella Shaw, Gracie Wickens-Sweet, IMD Legion, Jamie Raven, Narinder Dhani, The Kingdom Tenors, The Sakyi Five and UDI are also performing on tonight’s show.
Four acts are already through to Sunday night’s live finals.
