The talents of young musicians in the Ribble Valley was celebrated when a Valley high school hosted a “School of Rock” evening.
Organised by award-winning composer and musician, Steve Brown, the event was held at St Augustine’s RC High School, Billington, in aid of the CAFOD Connect 2 project, which supports a community living in poverty in Ethiopia. It raised more than £200 for this charity. Students aged 11 to 16 took part in the evening with a wide mix of musical tastes catered for, from AC/DC and Led Zeppelin to George Ezra and Bruno Mars; the evening ending with the entire audience joining in with Queen’s “We Will Rock You”.
Headteacher, Michael Wright, said a superb time was had by all. “It was a super evening of entertainment. We were delighted to host the evening and to welcome students from other schools who were able to showcase their talent as well as raising money for such a worthy cause.”
