Get ready to rock at a free one-day music festival which is returning to the Ribble Valley for its third year.
Ribchester Rovers Football Club is hoping for a hat-trick of successes as it hosts Rock on the Rec at Ribchester Recreational Field on Saturday from 12-30pm onwards.
A stellar line-up will feature six local bands playing a mix of classics from the likes of David Bowie, Oasis and The Rolling Stones, as well as innovative new material.
The festival will be headlined by four-piece rock band Sky Valley Mistress, of Darwen, who will kick off their set at 7pm.
It will also star The Slydes, The Rare Sugar Collective, Electric Circus, and Clean Break.
David Jaggs, the frontman of The Ragamuffins, will open the show with an electric performance.
This family-friendly event has been organised to raise money to help with the development of Ribchester Rovers and its junior teams.
The proceeds will also be used to help cover the cost of a new changing room/pavilion.
Organiser Ben Jones said: “It’s been a lovely summer and football fans everywhere have been enjoying the World Cup.
“Whilst we were hoping to be celebrating an historic England victory in Ribchester, Rock on the Rec is still a great opportunity to carry on celebrating.
“A party atmosphere for the whole family is guaranteed.”
Entry is free but all profits from the bar and any donations received will go towards the club’s fund-raising efforts.
Families are welcome to turn up with their chairs and rugs to enjoy a fun day with a rafts of activities, including a bouncy castle, rides and food stalls as well as a pay bar.
The event is part of the week-long award-winning music and drama festival called Ribfest which features a series of arts events at venues around the village from Monday, July 16th to Sunday, July 22nd.
