“Music and performing gives me great joy, but I’ve found a different type of joy working with these incredible young people from the Ribble Valley,” said the 21-year-old.

“It beats anything I’ve done before, even Britain’s Got Talent.

“I wanted to open the doors for young people. I love teaching others; it really inspires me.”

Ella Shaw’s Academy of Arts, based at the Grand Theatre, offers expert coaching and supervision in music, dance and drama for children age nine to 16.

“As a child, I appeared at Grab, the Ribble Valley schools talent show at the Grand, which sparked the start of my career.

“I had to pinch myself, though, when one of the parents said the Academy had given her daughter confidence and belief, something she didn’t have before.

“They were just amazed when she stepped up and delivered this terrific song on the last day of our term.”

Ella teamed up with dance teacher Grace Avery and drama coach Kathryn Maye-David for the performance school.

“I wanted the Academy to be a modern approach to the performing arts, rather than just visiting the old musicals,” said Ella.

“I can’t believe how it has taken off. There’s an incredibly special bond between the children and teachers.

“I really can’t thank Grace and Kathyrn enough, because I couldn’t have done it without them.

“But most of all to the children who’ve been with us since January and inspired those around them.”

The Academy will stage a special summer school from August 13-17th, 9am until 3pm.
