Krakow violinist to play in Clitheroe

Clitheroe Concerts Society’s next meeting on Wednesday, November 6th, will feature the highly talented young violinist Alicja Śmietana, who flies in from Krakow to play in Clitheroe. Born in 1983, Alicja is recognised as one of the most important violinists of her generation.

After studying both in Krakow and the Guildhall School of Music in London she won many competitions and made her international debut playing a Mozart violin concerto with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields under Sir Neville Marriner. She is co-artistic Director of Nigel Kennedy’s Orchestra of Life and played with him on his acclaimed recording of the Four Seasons.

The concert will be at the Clitheroe Royal Grammar School in York Street at 7-30 pm, where there is plenty of parking and entry on the level. Tickets are £14 on the door or from the Platform Gallery.
