The Chatburn Music Events have increased to meet demand and the first concert at Chatburn Methodist Church took place recently.
A capacity audience in this intimate venue enjoyed an excellent performance by The Burwain Singers – a mixed voice group of singers from various local choirs who have come together to deliver a high standard of music.
The performance included a wide variety of songs, ranging from Elvis to Gilbert and Sullivan, and from humorous to poignant, plus a medley to commemorate the First World War. They were delivered and in a variety of formats, from solos to quartets, plus the perfect harmony of the full choir.
The Chatburn Music Event trademark of readings and poetry was included in the programme and delivered with characteristic local dialect. Total enjoyment was experienced by everyone, including the performers and the concert raised £300 towards the upkeep of the Chatburn Methodist Church.
Chatburn Music Events organiser Clive Greenwood commented: “This first concert has got the expansion of music events off to a cracking start and beat all expectations, with lots of enthusiastic and positive feedback.
“There will soon be news of this year’s expanded Chatburn Summer Prom Concerts to raise money at both churches. In the meantime I thank everyone who has contributed and attended the concerts.”
News of the Summer Proms will be published here.
