TWO new winter exhibitions will be opened at Clitheroe’s Paltform Gallery this weekend, with peole invited to go along and enjoy home-baked biscuits and cider punch at the launch event.
It takes place from 12-30 to 2-30 p.m. on Saturday (October 15th) when the Mayor and Mayoress of Ribble Valley, Coun. Simon Hore and his wife Grace, will open the “Small Worlds” and “Winter Worlds” exhibitions. They will also judge the keenly contested gallery staff biscuit baking competition!
The Small Worlds exhibition takes delight in all things minute and miniature.
Visitors can marvel at the skill of craftspeople who create their own tiny worlds from metal, wood, textiles and ceramics. From teeny automatons to flying fairies and magical paper worlds, this exhibition will amaze and delight viewers of all ages!
The Winter Worlds exhibition showcases the gallery’s annual selection of hand-crafted gifts and has become famous through out the north of England. Each year the gallery hand picks the best of contemporary craft from across the UK and offers a unique selection of jewellery, textiles, ceramics, glass and small scale gift to delight the eye and the pocket.
This year’s selection focusses on gifts with a wintery feel, from icy chandelier jewellery by Corrinne Evans, to cosy sheepskin accessories by Miss Foxglove. More than 100 artists will be taking part, many from Lancashire and the north of England.
Both exhibitions run until December 24th and the gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 4-30 p.m. and on Sundays in December from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
