There are only a few hours to go until Whalley’s annual Pickwick Festival.
Held in the village from 6 until 9 pm tonight, Preston North End footballer Joe Garner, who hails from Whalley, and charity worker Naomi Eastham from Billington, will officially open this year’s festival.
Kiki deVille, who appeared on The Voice in 2014, will also be on stage singing in a vintage swing/blues style. As well as being part of Will-i-am’s team in last year’s series, she has also performed at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
A mini-panto will also be performed by Ribcaged Productions on stage while other attractions include a reindeer and barrel organs.
This is the 27th year that the event has been staged in the Ribble Valley village and each year it attracts around 5,000 people to visit the attractions and stalls that line King Street.
The stalls sell a range of festive treats including Christmas decorations, festive wreaths and mulled wine to name but a few.
Accrington Pipe Band and Darwen Brass will also be performing in the village and Whalley Old Grammar School will be open giving visitors the chance to browse the Local History Exhibition. This includes Jean Lord’s special model display of how the main street would have looked in Victorian times.
