The traditional grass cutting technique of scything has had quite a flourish with bare-chested Ross Poldark wielding his scythe in the hit BBC drama.
Now anyone can try the technique for real at Slaidburn in July when tutor Steve Tomlin leads two-day workshops at Bell Sykes Farm on Thursday and Friday, July 9th and 10th, and again on Thursday and Friday, July 16th and 17th, as part of the Hay Time project and Festival Bowland.
The cost is £95, including lunch and refreshments.
If that’s too strenuous, the Hay Time project has organised Coronation Meadow Teas and walks at Bell Sykes Farm on July 10th and 11th, cost £5. Contact Sarah on 01200 448000.
