Grindleton Pavilion opened just a year ago, in November 2012, with support from villagers and a number of different grant providers.
One of these was Lancashire Environmental Fund, which receives money from landfill taxes.
It donated £40,000 towards the installation of an environmentally friendly and sustainable ground source heat pump at the pavilion, and towards funding the community hall.
The committee at the pavilion was delighted to learn that, at the recent Lancashire Environmental Fund annual meeting, their project received the 2013 Best Practice Award in the Community Building section.
This section covered a diverse range of building projects and the award recognised not only the building, but also the impact on and involvement of the community in the project.
Shown in the photo on the right are project chairwoman Anne Huson and architect Jeff Marshall receiving the award from Andy Rowett, the LEF grant manager.
The Pavilion is available for hire for a wide range of activities and private functions.
