Clitheroe author’s book in Amazon top 20

Clitheroe author Steven Suttie is celebrating after his debut novel hit the top 20 of the Amazon best-sellers list.

“The Clitheroe Prime Minister” was released last summer and has steadily been rising up the charts and peaked at number 16 last week.

Steve, who works at the town’s RSPCA shop, said: “It was unbelievable to see my book so high in the charts.”

The satire comedy novel has maintained a five-star rating from customers and has received rave reviews.

The story is based in Clitheroe and is about a character called Jim Arkwright, who becomes the most famous man in Britain by accident. The British public want him to become the Prime Minister, but he does not want to be and would rather just be left in peace.

In the story, the town is overrun with media gangs, TV crews and tourists who see it on television and 
decide to pay a visit.

Steve is over the moon with the book’s success. “When I was writing it, I really wanted to sing the town’s praises and make a big deal about what a lovely place the Ribble Valley is, and that message has definitely come through in the feedback I’ve received.”
