REPRESENTATIVES from Ribble Valley action groups and the chairman of the borough council’s planning committee will debate the area’s housing issues on BBC One’s Sunday Politics show.

BBC television crews visited the Ribble Valley on Wednesday to film the area and representatives from three local action groups. These included Margaret Mayor from the Barrow Community Action Group, Steve Rush, chairman of Clitheroe Residents Action Group (CRAG) and Nick Walker, chairman of Save Whalley Village Action Group. Coun. Terry Hill, the chairman of the planning committee at Ribble Valley Borough Council, also joined the debate.

The feature will highlight the deluge of planning applications that are being submitted to Ribble Valley and Cheshire East Borough Councils and the impact on the locality and residents.

The programme, which is presented by Andrew Neil and Arif Ansari, will air on BBC One on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12-25 p.m.

Other guests include politicians Michael Meacher, Labour MP for Oldham West and Royton, and Andrew Bingham, the Conservative MP for High Peak in Derbyshire.
