What a weekend it’s been for Whalley and what a season it could turn out to be for the club.
The three-time Twenty20 champions advanced to Finals Day of the competition when beating Cherry Tree in the quarter-final.
And the club then annexed that success when reaching the Ramsbottom Cup showpiece with a thumping win over Feniscowles.
Three wickets from professional Toby Bulcock built the wall that helped to defend the home side’s 118-run total at Station Road, while Sam Sweeney and Simon Gorton added two wickets apiece to secure a 47-run triumph.
A tremendous display of batting from both Kye Stevens and Stuart Crabtree then sealed a magnificent 149-run win over Feniscowles in the semi-final of the cup.
Stevens hit nine fours and two sixes in a sensational knock of 97 while Crabtree finished unbeaten on 94 having found the boundary 13 times.
The pair put on 154 for the second wicket after Mark Fallon had made 35 as Whalley finished on 262/2.
Izak Bergh then claimed figures of 4-20 in the reply while Sweeney added 3-30 to set up a final with Read at Station Road on August 6th.
