SIX games have now transpired since Salesbury last recorded victory in the Ribblesdale Cricket League.

Jason Rawson’s side have just two league wins to their name, with the last one coming against Great Harwood at the beginning of May.

The Ribchester Road representatives are now third bottom with 47 points following a five wicket defeat against leaders Baxenden and a 39-run loss to neighbours Ribblesdale Wanderers.

That result at Church Meadow proved to be Ian Britcliffe’s only success of the weekend as they lost to a revitalised Clitheroe side in the 20/20 competiton and second place Read in the league.

Wanderers set a target of 182 against Salesbury after John Rain opened with 81, while Brannon Varley added 46 to the equation.

Australian Clinton Perren took 7-52 for the visitors but he was then outshone by Varley who amassed a phenomenal eight wicket haul. Wanderers are now sixth in the Ribblesdale League hierarchy.

• IN the Craven and District League Second Division, Chatburn fell to a 32-run defeat at Sandy Lane CC.

Russell Braithwaite took five wickets and Steve Bowker added four as the hosts finished on 176, but only Mark Nerenberg registered anything of note for Chatburn as he hit 58.
