Ribblesdale Wanderers advanced to the next phase of the Twenty20 as Group Two leaders having beaten Baxenden by a couple of wickets at Church Meadow.

Professional Primosh Perera showed his outstanding quality with the ball, taking 5-14 from four overs, as the visitors finished 112-9.

The hosts never really got going in their reply but a knock of 28 from captain Jordan Britcliffe at the tail end was enough to see them through.

Read advanced to the knockout stages of the Twenty20 despite defeat to Settle in their final group game.

Read gave themselves a fighting chance at Whalley Road as the visitors closed on 166-8.

Bailey Richards then added 32 runs in the chase while Andrew Turner contributed with a knock of 45.

However, Sadrian Ward (3-18) and Shakeel Richards (3-11) kept the hosts at arm’s length.

Whalley’s tie with Padiham at the Arbories was enough to secure their progression to the knockout stages of the Twenty20.

Callum Clarke and Owen Deakin-Pickard put on 55 for the second wicket with Padiham’s former skipper posting 31 while the latter closed unbeaten on 51, including seven fours, as the home side ended the innings on 129-7. Whalley’s Nathan Mashiter finished with figures of 4-38.

Curtis Meehan took 3-34 in an attempt to slow down Whalley’s chase but an unbeaten knock of 64 from Stuart Crabtree in addition to Declan Bailey posting 29 was enough to salvage a draw.
