Stonyhurst College Year 9 pupil Meg Murphy has been selected to play hockey at the Junior Regional Performance Centre – an England Hockey training centre for exceptionally talented young players.

Meg will be representing Manchester and will receive high level coaching from JRPC and England Hockey coaches.

Being selected for the JRPC is the next step up from County Hockey and Meg will be competing for a place in the Tier 1 Regional Competitions in September.

Tier 1 is a phase of six training sessions, followed by two days of competition.

In Tier 1 competition, the JRPCs are grouped into four clusters of three centres. From Tier 1 activity, players will be selected to represent their cluster squad at Tier 2.

This is a fantastic achievement for Meg and crowns her hugely successful year of sport, which has included captaining the Under 14s XI to win the Lancashire County Competition.
