Whalley pairing romp home to win Jubilee Four Ball

Whalley Golf Club hosted the Jubilee Four Ball Open on Saturday, which was well supported with players from all over the country.

On a great day for golf, with the course in brilliant condition, it was a Whalley pairing who romped home with 46 points.

Chris Blackadder threw in seven birdies on the day, including the only two, with his playing partner Chris Davies, who celebrated his 65th birthday with a par for 3 points on the 17th hole.

Second place went to another Whalley duo Craig Taylor and James Scriven with 43 points, with Mark Heap (Marsden Park) and Andrew Frankland (Keighley) third with 42.

On Thursday, Whalley’s lady golfers held their annual Spring Open.

The Stableford competition was won with 97 points by Allison Nuttal, Hazel Sellars, Maria Bland and Karen Thompson, from Wendy Green, Viv Birtwell, Anne Prior and Sally Blenkinship with 89 points .

In third place was Fran Gierat, Jean Sanderson, W. Satterthwaite and P. Holden with 88 points.
