Whalley ladies celebrate successful year

The Ladies of Whalley Golf Club hosted their Annual General Meeting and prize presentation evening.

The ladies were served dinner by the in house catering team , prize winners were congratulated , and all who helped to make the evening such a success were thanked.

Trophies: Past Captains Rosebowl , Margaret Calvert, Hi Task Gross , Karen Thompson, Hi Task nett -Joan Whittaker. The Veterans Cup and Lady Captains Charity Shield were also won by Joan Whittaker. The Birdie Tree Prize and the Celia Porter Trophy were won by Allison Nuttall.

Anne Hardisty who has only been playing golf for two years had an amazing year winning the Handicap Reduction Trophy, the High Handicap Trophy, The Silver Medal Cup and Captains Prize.

l The Winter League season began at Clitheroe Golf Club on Saturday, when Karl Hargreaves and Paul Nightingale won the first Fourball Betterball Stableford Competition played under winter rules.

Their 46-point total was two better than runners-up Paul McGlynn and James Wood, with Denis Greenup and Stuart Woodruff third on 43 points after a card play-off with David Parkinson and Geoffrey Cole.

David Parkinson was in the money again on Sunday winning a Singles Stableford with 40 points, followed by Benjamin Dowds on 38 points with Ralph Postlethwaite third, scoring 37 points.
