Wayne Ivinson’s outstanding score of 66 won Mytton Fold Golf Club’s competition on Saturday, and with it an all-expenses paid golfing holiday to the Algarve!

With five birdies in his back-9 and the lowest gross of 72, he hid a 5 off the tee at the fourth on his card extremely well.

Second was club captain Mick Bryan, just two shots behind and just ahead of Peter Kiddie on a card play-off.

Top lady was Brenda Griffith, with lady captain-elect Tarja Wilson runner-up.

Last Thursday, Mytton Fold’s Seniors remembered former captain Jim Hindle in his Memorial competition. Fittingly, current captain Bryan won with 35 points, two ahead of Dave Griffith and four ahead of Steve Worrall.

At Whalley, the Single Medal was won by Tony Fowles with 70. Second in the Second Division with 73 was Jeremy Wade, and third was Kevin Walker with 75.

Division One winner was Stephen Crossley with 76, separated by card play-offs from Michael Fletcher and Martin Crabtree.

The Jubilee Open is next week’s competition and all visitors, who are members of a golf club and in possession of an official handicap, are welcome to compete.

Last Thursday Whalley ladies’ Stableford competition was won by Agnes Seery with 33 points, closely followed by Bridget Rees with 32 and Hazel Sellars with 31. The High Handicap Trophy was won by Gloria Bentley with 28 points.
