Reigning champions Waddington Red took full advantage of Tigers’ rest week by registering a comfortable maximum win to draw level at the top of the Dorothy Southworth Indoor Bowling League at Roefield Leisure Centre.
The Reds were too strong for The French Connection, winning by 63 shots to 11, and with Sabden again losing ground, it looks to be a two-horse race for the title as there is now clear daylight between The Tigers and The Reds on 73 points, with Sabden and The All Blacks on 62.
The Wanderers continued their recent improvement with a hard-fought maximum six-point victory over Clitheroe White by 36 shots to 30.
Amazingly both mats finished with the same score of 18-15!
Waddington Blue had a similar maximum win over West Bradford, and Longridge weighed in with the same 6-0 victory over Clitheroe White.
There were some close finishes in the games concerning Hurst Green, who had two matches this week.
Firstly against Sabden, the Green took the aggregate by just four shots, but then lost the aggregate by just three shots against The All Blacks.
Read once again continued their improvement with a four points to two win over Clitheroe Blue, and had the trio of Les Hart, Geoff Barrett and Kevin Cook to thank for an outstanding display on mat one, winning by 34 shots to 4!
