Ribble Valley Netball Club shone bright in the rain to find success at the start of the outdoor tournament season at Blackpool’s Stanley Park.
The club’s youngsters proved to be a ray of sunshine as they registered a top two finish in every age group.
The tournament was open to Lancashire clubs and attracted 43 teams in age groups from under nine to under 16 with clubs attending from Blackburn, Leyland, Chorley and across Fylde to grace the newly-refurbished courts.
The Ribble Valley representatives entered 10 teams, with the under nines, under 10s, under 11s and under 14s achieving a 100% record on the way to topping their groups.
Two other Valley teams also finished as runners-up.
The under eights came second, securing a Ribble one-two in the under nines age group and the under 12s were runners-up in the under 13s competition, outperforming their older club-mates who were knocked out by a golden goal in the semi-final.
Plenty of valuable experience was gained with many girls playing in their first tournament, and with over 70 girls representing the club throughout the day, nearly half the club’s membership.
The club is now well into preparations to host its own tournament, which has been brought back into the Ribble Valley after a few years away.
The competition will be held on May 13th and 14th.
There are still sponsorship opportunities available for local businesses or individuals to help support one of the biggest netball tournaments in the North West, where around 1,000 girls, their clubs and families will compete across the weekend.

Meanwhile, the club’s latest outing brought the introduction of two new shelters that had been purchased using some of the funds secured from the 2016 Aviva Community Fund. The girls and parents would like to thank everyone who voted for them in the competition that helped keep them dry during the day.
