Clitheroe Rugby Union FC kick off this year’s Summer Touch Rugby Series with six weeks of fun, free, non-contact games for all abilities starting today, Thursday, June 2.
This is the third year that the club will be running the series and the players and committee members are hoping it will be even more successful than the previous two years.
Captain Richard Few said: “The first time we ran the tournament, we attracted around 50 people – it would be great to build on these record numbers.
“The event is organised by the club to give people a taste of rugby, without the contact element.
“It’s a great way to improve your fitness, especially speed and agility, but most importantly it’s incredibly good fun.
“It has been a massive success over the past two years and even led to Clitheroe Ladies’s Touch Rugby Team being established.
“The event runs every Thursday at 7pm at the rugby club and is open to everyone, male and female, over 15 years of age.
“Touch Rugby is great fun and very easy to pick up, you don’t need to have any experience with the game.
“We’ll make everyone welcome and we’re hoping to see lots of new faces.”
The six-week series will be rounded off with a tournament and BBQ on Sunday, July 11.
