Rally driver Tommi Meadows is feeling confident after frinishing sixth of 17 in round one of the Junior 1000 Rally Championship last weekend at Three Sisters Circuit in Wigan.
After finishing sixth in his first year of the championship in 2014, Meadows was keen to improve on his results going into this year.
Tommi and co driver Ian Oakey started the Roskirk Stages well, consistently setting top five stage times to sit fourth overall coming up to the half way point.
However, the crew caught a slower car in stage four and, trying to make up for the valuable seconds lost, got just one wheel on the grass after a fast chicane which caused them to spin off, hit a wall and lose another 20 seconds trying to restart the car and turn around.
Tommi, 15, said: “We were fighting for a podium place but the spin dropped us down to ninth overall. At least now I have learnt to try and stay chilled on stage!”
The pair recovered to finish sixth overall.
The Bowland High pupil is next in action on March 21st at Anglesey Circuit.
