Clitheroe rally driver Tommi Meadows will get behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta R2 at this weekend’s Plains Rally, round 3 of the 2018 BTRDA Forest Rally Series.
Meadows has campaigned a Ford KA so far this season, with an impressive result on Rally North Wales in March, followed by a DNF on the Severn Valley Stages making up the story so far.
However support from caravan, motorhome & holiday home manufacturers Swift Leisure Group has given the 18 year-old the opportunity to pilot a slightly different Ford Fiesta R2 this weekend, owned and run by current British Rally Championship leader Matt Edwards.
Emma Morrison will co-drive for the youngster.
It shouldn’t be completely unfamiliar territory for Tommi though, as he had the chance to drive the same car on the Grizedale Stages Rally at the end of 2017.
“I’m really looking forward to driving the Fiesta this weekend, and these are some of the best stages to do it on.
“Matt prepares his cars meticulously and to be able to also take advice and learn from him at the same time is brilliant.
“He’s on top form right now with his own career and has a lot of knowledge,” explains Meadows.
“There’s a lot of people going out of their way to help me out this year and I am so grateful for the support.
“I’d especially like to thank Swift Group and the 2300 Club John Easson Award for making this weekend possible.
“The experience I’ve been gaining is fantastic.”
