There will be a new name on the champion’s trophy this year in the Dorothy Southworth Indoor Bowling League at Roefield.
Newcomers the Tigers sealed the title with two maximum wins in the final week of fixtures, winning the league from champions Waddington Red by 10 clear points.
Third place was taken by the All Blacks, who finished a further seven points adrift of Waddington.
Needing only two points from their final two games,the Tigers clinched the title in style, beating Hurst Green convincingly by 66 shots to 17, only to repeat the punishment on Waddington Blue by 58 shots to 26 and become champions.
Tigers have played consistently well all season and fielded a settled side, recording 22 wins from their 24 matches.
Victorious captain Alan Mercer paid tribute to his squad who had all played their part in what was a team victory.
He also passed on his thanks on behalf of all the players from all the teams to the management and staff of Roefield Leisure for the excellent facilities which are provided week-in week-out.
Other results saw Read post a 5-1 points victory over West Bradford, Longridge recording a maximum 6-0 points victory over French Connection, while Sabden beat All Blacks 4-2, and Clitheroe Blue beat Clitheroe White by the same score.
