There was a top of the table clash in this week’s fixtures in the Dorothy Southworth Indoor Bowling League at the Roefield Centre when champions Waddington Red took on newcomers The Tigers.

In a tight encounter, the Tigers came out on top 4-2 in a game that could have been a 6-0 victory to either team.

On mat one The Tigers Trio of Terry Hamer, Rick Grogan and Tony Edwards beat Waddington’s Ian Jackson, Jack Arthur and skip Bill Rome 20-13. On mat two the Reds’ Kevin Ryder, Ken Barker and George Rushton sneaked home 23-22 against Peter Ide, Richard Hull and Alan Mercer, but Tigers took the aggregate 42-36.

Hurst Green beat Clitheroe White 6-0, but the game was much closer than the score suggests with the Whites losing narrowly on both mats (14-15 and 17-19).

Other games resulted in wins for Wanderers over West Bradford, All Blacks over French Connection, Clitheroe Blue over Hurst Green and Sabden over French Connection. West Bradford and Waddington Blue posted 4-2 wins over Longridge and Read.
