Prize winners were congratulated, all who helped to make the evening such a success were thanked, and all-in-all it was a fitting way to end a super year.
The first of the Winter Pro competitions at Whalley was underway on Saturday, sponsored by club professional Jamie Hunt.
Kevin Moore carried on with his recent form, romping home with 30 points over 13 holes.
Second place with a steady 26 points was James Kennerley, just nudging Ed Gierat into third place on a card play-off.
Four twos were recorded on the day by P. Fletcher, Gierat, M. Fletcher and D. Rodgers.
The next winter competition is on Saturday, November 16th.
Dave Griffith took the win with par golf in Mytton Fold Golf Club’s latest round of their Winter Singles competition.
His 32 points over the shortened 16-hole winter Langho course was just enough to hold off Frank Hindle (31 points) and Mike Chatburn (30 points).
Played in blustery winds with heavy, and cold, showers, all competitors deserved a medal for completing their rounds.
Behind the leading three, the competition was fierce for the minor league points as Baz Hargreaves, Kevin Shanley and Mick Kelbie all came home with 29 points, while Frank Tunstall John Berry and Richard Greaves were another point behind.
Some of the usual suspects came to raid the twos pot as Baz Hargreaves, Mick Kelbie and Jean Van Boeckel all birdied the first, while John Parkinson waited until the 11th to stake his claim.
The ladies of Mytton Fold enjoyed their end-of-season get together, playing a 9-hole Stableford competition before rounding off the day with afternoon tea.
Did someone mention the golf? Jean Havard took the win with 20 points, followed by Judith Kay, who just held off past lady captain Patricia Leyland on a card play-off.
Jean Havard also won the season’s Eclectic competition.
