STONYHURST Park Golf Club has taken full advantage of the winter months to further develop the golf course before the season gets into full swing in March.
The new first green is now in play and the improvement in drainage has been much in evidence.
A new bunker is being dug in front of the 7th/16th green which will give choices on how the hole can be played and add interest.
New tee signs have been installed on all tees which add to the appearance of the course. The signs have all been sponsored by local businesses and the club thank Aegis, Barrow Construction, BCW Engineering, Cosgroves (Whalley), Bromley Insurance, Fort Vale, Fuzzy Duck, Oakhill Academy, Ribble Valley Heat Pumps, Riley and Shutt, Robinson and Spensley, the Bayley Arms, the Eagle and Child, The Grand, the Three Fishes, the Whalley Wine Shop and Whalley Physiotherapy.
A sponsors’ day and lunch is being planned for February 23rd to show the club’s appreciation for the effort made.
A new head greenkeeper Andrew Oddie, has been appointed to start in March following the semi-retirement of the long-serving Barry Bolton. Andrew has been working on the course for the past two years under the tutelage of Barry.
