Stonyhurst host successful hockey tournament

OVER 30 teams from 10 HMC North West Schools entered this year’s HMC Tournament, organised and hosted by Stonyhurst College.

The day consisted of four closely-contested girls’ tournaments - Under 13 and 15 Netball, and Under 14 and 16 hockey.

The Under 13 netball tournament was won by an excellent Kings Chester side who were unbeaten all day.

The Under 15 netball tournament was decided on goal difference, with Cheadle Hulme the winners. Stonyhurst finished fourth behind Cheadle Hulme, Kings Macclesfield and Stockport Grammar.

The Under 14 hockey tournament was won by an excellent Arnold KEQM side, who beat Kirkham 2-0 in the final.

Stonyhurst finished third.

The Under 16 hockey tournament saw a final match between Stonyhurst and Arnold KEQM A, both having won all of their matches.

The game remained 0-0 until the last five minutes when Arnold KEQM scored two quick goals to win the tournament.
