The Stonyhurst College rugby first XV have been named School Team of the Month in the current edition of Rugby World magazine.
The team have had a fantastic season, winning 18 games, scoring almost 1,000 points and conceding less than 100.
Rugby World’s schools’ correspondent Huw Thomas wrote: “The foundation for their successful term was set on the summer tour to South Africa.
“Since then the side has played with a rare confidence and refreshing attacking verve under their outstanding centre Tom Morgan.
“Their strength lies around a mobile pack, which has a fine back row in Ivo Carre, Ethan Carroll and Victor Keunen, an abrasive midfield and pace out wide.”
Stonyhurst continues to produce some of the country’s best young rugby players - last season no fewer than 12 were selected to play at county, regional and academy level.
Two of them, Victor Keunen and Favour Maduka, have the honour of playing for the Under 16 England squad.
The historic school has turned out an extraordinary number of rugby internationals in recent years, including Kyran Bracken, Will Greenwood, Iain Balshaw and Joe Ansbro.
