THE first-ever Clitheroe small table singles snooker league has been completed.
Pictured, from left, are winner Steven Almond, semi-finalist Mark Riley, event organiser and league secretary Gary Simkin and semi-finalist Mark Hitchen.
The format was two leagues of 12 players, who played each other home and away over three frames, with a point for each frame won.
The top four in each league then played down to the final, with Almond continued his good league form, beating Hitchen in the semi-final before seeing off Simon Briggs 4-2 in the final. Briggs had earlier disposed of Mark Riley in his semi-final.
Almond also took the highest break prize with a sublime 103 in a keenly-contested league.
Plans are in place for a 2013/2014 competition, with the hope of opening the competition up to all Clitheroe clubs with both small and full size snooker tables.
