Last Sunday saw the annual Move It Doubles bowling competition on the Church Meadow green.
The tournament pairs 16 bowlers and 16 non bowlers together and forms four groups in a round-robin format, before the group winners proceed to the semi finals.
This year’s successful pairings to reach the knockout stage were Mark Graham and Sandra Riley, Jack Kerr and George Kerr, Wendy Slinger and John Steinson and Sarah Varley and Martin Briggs, who all won their groups without losing a match.
The Kerr pairing defeated Graham and Riley 15-11 in the first semi-final, before Slinger and Steinson stepped up to win to just seven over Varley and Briggs.
Both defeated semi-finalists received £10.
A tense final resulted in Slinger and Steinson edging out the Kerrs 15-11 in a competitive finish to a great day of bowls.
The Kerrs took the £20 second prize, while the champions lifted the trophy and £40 prize money.
