Kirk Cattermole dominated on his first outing at Silverstone in rounds one, two and three of the BSA 125 Open National Kart Championship.
The season started with a bumper entry of over 30 karts.
The weekend consisted of Saturday practice and qualifying and three rounds of the championship on Sunday, with Kirk racing aboard a new lightweight Raider chassis with a new 2016 SGM engine.
Kirk managed to secure pole position by just over half a second, reaching speeds in excess of 122 mph.
On Sunday, in race one, Kirk managed to secure the win after taking the lead on lap two. He gradually pulled away from the pack behind to take the win by an impressive 4.520 seconds.
In race two, at the end of the opening lap Kirk was in second position, with only 1.8 seconds covering the first 10 drivers, but on lap four, Kirk jumped into the lead and took the win by a mere 0.128 seconds.
Then in race three, the first few laps were held in wet conditions, but on a drying track Kirk and his nearest competitor had an excellent race, with the lead changing several times, but Kirk managed to make it a hat-trick and secured the win by a margin of 0.111 seconds.
The next meeting is at Snetterton in Norfolk in two weeks time.
Special thanks to Kirk’s sponsors PFP Services, Magnum Motorsport, Cat Racing Services, Ultraframe and Millers Oils.
