Mytton Fold Golf Club’s Junior Organiser Richard Greaves proves he was no turkey when he won the Turkey Shoot on Saturday.
To congratulatory cries of, ‘fowl’ his 40 points over the 16-hole winter course was enough to see off second-placed John Parkinson by just one point.
Also bringing home the bacon was Captain-elect Peter Main with 38 points, just enough to see off the battling duo of Nigel Fairhurst and Jim Bridge who had to be separated by a card play-off.
In all there were 11 hunters and gatherers who came away with their carnivorous appetites catered for, including Andrew Wilson whose sausages replaced the wooden spoon.
Five competitors shared the twos pot. President David Hargreaves, Peter Kiddie and John Berry all birdied the first, Captain Phil Hammond did likewise at the ninth and Chris Hughes scored a ‘proper two’ at the long par-3 11th hole.
