There were some shock results in the latest fixtures of the Ribble Valley Indoor Bowling League at Roefield.

Read, who had previously lost all their games, overturned unbeaten West Bradford 4-2.

But the surprise of the week was provided by Waddington Blue, who whitewashed unbeaten leaders Sabden!

The game provided the bowl of the day from Waddington skipper Lynda Baldwin. Three shots down, which would have given Sabden the game, she took out all three Sabden bowls, leaving Waddington counting two to win.

Waddington skipped on mat one by William Towler also managed to overcome John Cooper’s Sabden triple in a close-fought game to take a 6-0 win.

The game between Longridge and Hurst Green was a nail-biting affair. The aggregate scores were level on five occasions, and the final end began with the teams locked on 29 shots. On mat two Hurst Green picked up a single, only to see Longridge skipper Tony Hargreaves register a match-winning five on mat one.

Also decided on the last end was the Clitheroe Blue v Waddinton Red clash, with Clitheroe counting on both mats to take the aggregate by just four shots.
