CLITHEROE’S own Olympic silver medalist Samantha Murray hopes the town’s youngsters will be encouraged to take up fencing at a new club in town.

Murray competes in fencing as part of the modern pentathlon, and with interest growing in the sport on the back of London 2012, a club has opened every Wednesday night from 7-30 to 9-30 p.m. at the Ribble Valley Tennis Centre, opposite Ribblesdale Pool.

The price is £7 per night, or £60 for 10 weeks.

All equipment is provided for all shapes and sizes, and children and adults are welcome.
