Pupils from Salesbury Church of England Primary School have claimed victory in gymnastics to seal their place at this year’s SPAR Lancashire School Games County Finals.
The team from Salesbury Primary took to the floor to perform gymnastics drills and the vault against 20 other teams from Ribble Valley.
The pupils will now progress to the SPAR Lancashire School Games County Final where they will battle it out against others from across the county to be crowned Lancashire champions in gymnastics.
The SPAR Lancashire School Games, now in its ninth year, is the biggest school games scheme in the county and is part of the national £128m school games programme.
The county finals, which aim to give every child the opportunity to participate in competitive sport, will see over 2,000 children compete in sports including; gymnastics, handball, football, netball, rounders, athletics, tennis and tag rugby.
Jane Johnson, Ribble Valley school games organiser, said: “With the highest number of entrants ever recorded for Ribble Valley gymnastics, the standard of competition was extremely high.
“Salesbury Primary absolutely dominated the event, with a team from the school snatching both first and second place, while St Hubert’s Roman Catholic Primary School finished in third.
“I look forward to cheering them on in Blackpool.”
