Records tumble at Clitheroe Dolphins gala

CLITHEROE Dolphins held their annual sprint gala on Saturday evening at the Ribblesdale Pool in Clitheroe.

A total of 326 new personal bests were set, 134 North Lancs qualifying times achieved and 12 club records broken!

Many races ended with fingertip finishes, making the finish judge’s job a very difficult one.

In the earlier gala for swimmers aged 6-9, Daisy Dixon, Robert Moir and Alistair Moir all took clean sweeps of gold medals in their age groups.

The following new club records were set: Charlie Ashworth, 9yr girls 50m Backstroke; Alastair Moir, 9yr boys 50m Backstroke; Daisy Dixon, 6yr girls 25m Butterfly.

In the later gala for swimmers aged 10 and over, Hannah Procter, Megan Davidson, Abigail Procter, Oliver Murray and Will Murray all took clean sweeps of gold medals in their contested age groups.

The following new club records were set: Jack Stanley, 10yr boys 50m Backstroke; Will Murray, 14yr boys 50m Breaststroke; Megan Davidson, 12yr girls 50m Butterfly; Will Murray, 14yr boys 50m Butterfly; Will Murray, 14yr boys 50m Freestyle; Harvey Griffin, 10yr boys 100m IM; Will Murray, 14yr boys 100m IM; Harry Paige, 15yr boys 100m IM; Philip Sellars, 17yr boys 100m IM.
