THE Read-based sidecar pairing of Russ and Rod Pearce are on top of the world after securing the British F2 Cup Sidecar Championship with one meeting remaining.
Arriving at Snetterton Race Circuit last weekend, the duo had a lead of 70 points over the second place pairing of Nicky Dukes and William Moralee, meaning they only had to secure 31 points of the remaining 50 for the title to be theirs.
Qualifying on Saturday saw the brothers take 10th on the grid, third in their class and ahead of the only other championship contenders, Dukes and Moralee.
The afternoon saw the Pearces advance places overall, and maintain their podium position in the cup, ensuring 16 points toward their goal and setting themselves up with a credible fourth row grid position for the next race.
The second race saw the outfit shadowing the pairing of Dukes and Moralee for the initial few laps, maintaining a position which would ensure them the championship win.
This was the case until three laps from the end, when a spin caused them to drop about four places, and what looked like the championship. This wasn’t to be the case as Dukes and Moralee retired on the very next lap, gifting the title to the brothers, who eventually climbed back up into sixth place.
The next and final round at Brands Hatch will occur on September 29th and 30th.
