Boxing coach Kevin Maree is relishing the prospect of showcasing two of his talented proteges at Colne Muni’s Friday fight night.
After overcoming Liam Griffiths unanimously on his professional debut, 21-year-old Haidher Riaz is set to take on Kevin McCauley, while stablemate Qasim Niaz, who breezed past Carl Allen on his pro bow, will face Jamie Zaszlos.
The pair had the ideal preparation ahead of their second outings with former WBO World middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam providing the test in sparring.
“I think we’ll definitely see them build on their debuts,” said Maree. “Haidher had ring rust going in to his fight so I expect him to be much sharper this time round and he’ll show his class.
“Qasim was aggressive and sharp on his debut. I was really impressed with his performance. He will keep getting better as well. They’ve been doing plenty of work with former WBO World middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam going in to this so there confidence has been boosted. “
