FOR the first time in 22 years there will be a lady president at Clitheroe Golf Club.
Mrs Chris Stokes will take up that prestigious role at the Ribble Valley club while the newly elected captains also teed of their tenure at the official drive-ins.
Mr Ian Lambert will take on the captain’s position, Will Kenyon has been elected the new junior captain and Mrs Jan Burrows has become the lady captain.
When addressing members, former captains and officials at the club’s latest meeting, Mr Lambert said: “Throughout 2010 I have been greatly encouraged by the support and best wishes that so many of you have offered to me. Thank you all for that and again for the confidence and trust that you have shown by placing me in this position.
“I feel very honoured, and I look forward to working with president and lady captain throughout the coming year. We can genuinely claim to be the premier course in the area. Open qualifying has improved our standing, and I am grateful to captain elect for agreeing to again organise marshalling etc for this years’ event. The performances of our teams and individuals in various local and national competitions also enhance the reputation of our club.”
Mr Lambert added that his nominated charity for 2011 would be Cystic Fibrosis while Mrs Burrows would be raising funds for Help For Heroes.
