Clitheroe ladies claimed victory in their first-ever touch rugby match in Fleetwood.
The newly-formed team took on the Fleetwood Ladies’ team and were thrilled to win by 11 tries to five.
The ladies’ touch rugby team formed following Clitheroe’s free touch rugby tournament, which was hosted by the club in the summer.
Following the win, team captain Emily Rawcliffe said: “It was absolutely fantastic for us to win our first-ever game against another team, especially one as formidable as Fleetwood. We were particularly proud of ourselves as we overcame a number of obstacles on the day, such as some unexpected rule changes and having no substitutes.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming the Fleetwood Ladies for a home game on February 28th, and it would be great if people came up to the club to support us. There should be refreshments available and it promises to be a good game, especially now we know what strengths and weaknesses to focus on during our Monday night training sessions.
“We are keen to see more new players joining us, whether complete beginners or seasoned professionals.”
