Mick Kelbie was the top man when Mytton Fold Golf Club played their EGU Medal Qualifier on Saturday.
His 84-16-68 put him two shots clear of Dave Griffith (83-13-70), with Gary Ashton (86-15-71) third.
Dave Westwood (at the first) and Garry Davies (at the ninth) split the Twos Pot.
Hazel Sellars took a great win at the England Golf Midlands North Regional Final held at Shrewsbury. Her nett 69 beat Abigail Edson (Howley Hall Golf Club) into second by three clear shots.
Long-time Mytton Fold member John Parkinson won his first Board competition - the two-day medal Pharman Cup. Matching John’s total of nett 153 was Ian Shaw, but Ian’s higher second-day score saw him lose out by the narrowest of card play-offs.
In the ladies’ Pharman Cup, it was another excellent win for in-form Sellars whose 107-31-76 was a matching nett score with the men’s winner.
Judith Kay (106-27-79) finished runner-up with Allison Nuttall ( 99-19-80) rounding off the podium positions.
The first round of the Kevin Shanley Charity Trophy was won by Steve Worrall.
Steve’s 84-15-69 left him one shot ahead of Garry Davies (84-14-80) and three ahead of Chris Quinn (92-20-72).
The ladies’ April 9-Hole Stableford saw Sellars take the win with 19 points. Her score was matched by Brenda Griffith, but a card play-off demoted Brenda to the runner-up slot. Lady Captain Elect Ann Almond completed the podium places.
It’s “Plus One Heesom” at Clitheroe Golf Club after Andrews sparkling 65 won him the Prestigeous Tom Morris Competition last weekend.
A 75 in Saturday’s first round saw Heesom in the pack, but seven Birdies and 10 pars in Sunday’s outstanding round resulted in a 140 winning total.
Paul Nightingale had to settle for the runners-up spot with 141, with Matthew Garner third place after cards on 144.
Mark Jones took Division One after countback, Andrew Passmore headed Division Two, and Neil Cronin topped Division Three.
The Midweek Medal saw Sean Wilson’s nett 66 give him a two-shot margin over Dave MacKenzie. Mark Ashworth’s nett 69 took third prize.
Michelle Fielding won both ladies’ competitions.
A two under S/S won the Duckworth Cup and Annie Chambers Qualifier and Chris Stokes was two off the pace.
Marcia Morris was third.
The Medal was a Tale of Two Birdies. Both Michelle Fielding and Val Fairless birdied the long 7th but Fielding won the card play-off, both ladies posting nett 74s.
Carole Brown was best of a trio on 79 leaving Helen Maginn and Chris Stokes to complete the Leader Board.
