GISBURN Primary School defied their small school status recently as they won the Ribble Valley Indoor Sportshall Athletics Competition at Oakhill Academy, Whalley.

The competition, organized by the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley School Sports Partnership, consisted of several events, including a 4x1 lap relay, an obstacle relay and a standing long jump. Gisburn Primary beat both Sabden and Grindleton Primary Schools into second and third place respectively in the small schools category as both the boys and girls finished first in every event!

Gisburn finished first across the whole event to be crowned champions of the Ribble Valley, and they will now go onto represent the Valley at both the small school county final at Hyndburn Sports Centre on February 26th, and the county final on February 5th at Blackpool Sports Centre.

The winning team was: Aimee Carroll, Claudia Humberstone, Emily Pilkington, Lucy Pilkington, Tiffany Skinner, Scarlett Culver, Hayden Atkinson, Sean Bargh, Christopher Moore, Tom Sutcliffe, Max Jones, Oliver Lancaster.
